Certified 2026 Primary Election Results

The State Canvass Board has completed their work, and I have final news on election results!

Ralph Nieder-Westermann received 29 certified write-in votes and will now appear on the ballot as the Democratic candidate for House District 26!

Larry Alwin received 51 certified write-in votes and will now appear on the ballot as the Democratic candidate for House District 28!

As previously reported, the following were (re-)elected as Precinct Committee Men in the towns designated:

• Mart Hinckley, Shell
• David James, Lovell
• Erik Good, Basin

The following received three or more write-in votes in their precincts, and have agreed to accept positions as Precinct Committee Man or Woman in the towns designated:

• Lynette Murray, Greybull
• Ralph Nieder-Westermann, Greybull
• Darla Haller, Basin
• Jade Smith, Shell
• Wyatt Kruse, Emblem
• Karisa Kruse, Emblem

Congratulations to all of these folks, and thank you for agreeing to serve!  Please note, if you haven’t, that Lynette, Ralph, Darla, and Jade are continuing in positions they currently hold, and Wyatt and Karisa are new to our group from Emblem!  Welcome!

And thank you to all of you, for your votes and your write-ins.  This is the largest slate of elected Democrats we have had in Big Horn County in quite a while, with two more possible.  

I choose to believe that is a sign of great things to come.  We will be meeting in the next few weeks to celebrate, and to strategize for how to support our House candidates and for the other Democrats running for federal and state offices this year.
