*1. Meeting Called to Order by Chair Erik Good
*2. Chair Erik Good welcomed all and introductions made.
*In attendance Erik Good, Chair. Lynette Murray, Vice-Chair. Sandi Menke, Treasurer. Jennifer Miller, Secretary. Darla Haller, Michael Jaycox, Jade Smith, Tom Harrington, Debbie Hoover, Bill Lee, Annie Mueller, Ted Menke.
*3-4. The agenda and minutes of the previous meeting approved.
*5. Treasurer’s Report: April 13, 2024 balance: $1650.59 + interest $3.03 + deposits $646.45 – $85 Convention Expenses= $2215.07 October 17. 2024
*6. Announcements from the Chair.
a.Erik announced our webpage: bighorn@wyodems.net Our webpage is under the umbrella of the State Party @ $10 month.
b.Jade Smith & Mart Hinckley elected on the ballot as Committee People for Shell. Write-in votes for Erik & Darla-Basin and Lynette Murray & Ralph Nieder-Westermann-Greybull. Barbara asked to represent Lovell.
c.Meet the Candidates & Rally, Saturday, October 19 2 p.m. Park County Weed & Pest 1067 CR-13, Powell. Meet Scott Morrow, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate; Kyle Cameron, Democratic Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives; and Larry Alwin, Democratic Candidate for Wyoming House District 28. Women’s Rights, Healthcare, Housing Shortage, Worker’s Rights, & Property Tax Fairness are among the topics to be addressed.
d.Erik participated in the BHC Canvas Board of Elections with BHC Clerk Lori Smallwood for the Public Test of the Election Equipment. Lori tested the checks & balances to secure a fair & free election. Big Horn County has 13 voting precincts with 100 different ballots.
*7. Strategic Plan Review:
Organizing:
#1. Yes! We’ll have had 4 meeting in 2024 #2. but NO meeting on the north end of BHC
#3. No! Attendance at a meeting needs to be 27 (50% higher than current highest). Did not reach that number.
#4. No! Did not increase participation at meeting of both under 30 and Latinx.
#5 .Yes! The Rally on Oct. 19 with Park County Dems qualifies as an event coordinated with another Big Horn Basin Party.
Communications:
#1. Yes! Website built.
#2. Yes! At least 4 original, member-created, issue-oriented letters to the editor submitted with more to come.
Fundraising:
Yes! BHC Dems have increased total funds raised in 2023 by 100%.
In summary: Participation is our struggle.

*8. Election/GOTV discussion
a. Messaging:
In the past Big Horn County Concerned Citizens gathered signatures for Wyoming Promise, a petition effort to amend the US Constitution to reverse Citizens United, a Supreme Court decision that ended campaign finance restrictions.
VOTE 2020, another BHCCC initiative, published a pamphlet entitled Your Vote=Your Power in both English and Spanish. It contained information on voter qualifications, acceptable IDs, 3 ways to Register, and Helpful Voter Information. The pamphlets were distributed at various local events.
In 2021 Advocates for a Better Big Horn County created a postcard VACCINATION IT WORKS! containing a positive quote from Senator Barrasso plus information on where to get vaccinated, and a vaccine history from George Washington’s smallpox inoculations in 1777 to polio eliminated in the Americas 1994 to COVID-19 in 2021. This postcard was mailed to every resident in Big Horn County.
In 2022 several canvassed for Kim Bartlett’s HD28 campaign.
b. Priorties:
Erik will develop a sticker which will be placed on the door handles of the 242 registered BHC Democrats containing voter information and encouraging voter participation while listing our website: bighorn.wyodems.net We believe in Freedom Justice Opportunity. Join us in voting for HOPE, not CHOAS and DEMOCRACY, not HYPOCRISY. These stickers will be hung the week before the Nov. 5 Presidential Election.
*9. Announcements from the floor
a.Lynette Murray and Tom Harrington spearheaded a Vote Nov. 5 Postcard campaign addressed to Democrats in battleground states. On Thurs. Oct. 24, 1950 postcards were mailed in Greybull and an additional 750 mailed from south BHC. Congratulations to all that participated. BTW Lynette addressed 650!!!
